Songs About Ohio, The Buckeye State

The state song is "Beautiful Ohio" by Ballard MacDonald, Wilbert B. McBride and Mary Earl. The song was a national hit several times by different artists in 1919: Henry Burr, Waldorf-Astoria Dance Orchestra, Prince's Orchestra, Olive Kline & Marguerite Dunlap, Fritz Kreisler amd Sam Ash. Music historians credit Cleveland radio as the launching grounds that popularized rock and roll in the early 1950s, which is why Cleveland is the home of the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Museum. The NFL Hall of Fame is in Canton. Ohio has many major league sports teams. Other Ohio themes include Tornado Alley, Lake Erie, hills and forests and snowstorms. Prior to statehood Ohio had been controlled by the French then the British. Native American hertiage traces back to the Miami, Wyandot, Deleware, Shawnee, Ottawa, Mingo and Erie tribes.
