Songs About Florida, The Sunshine State


The state song is "Swanee River (Old Folks at Home)" by Stephen C. Foster. The song was a national hit several times by different artists in the early years of the recording industry: Len Spencer (1892), Vess Ossman (1900), Haydu Quartet (1904), Louise Homer (1905), Alma Gluck (1915), Taylor Trio (1916), Oscar Seagle & Columbia Stellar Quartet (1919), Jimmie Lunceford (1936) and Bunny Berigan (1937). Florida themes include NASA's space exploration, water springs, oranges and Disney World. The state flower is the orange blossom. Due to its scenic beauty and weather, Florida is one of the world's top tourist attractions.
