Songs About Connecticut, The Constitution State

The state song is "Yankee Doodle," a traditional American patriotic song written in the 18th century. It was a national hit by Vess Ossman in 1894 and 1897. The state is the home where copper coinage began along with the first Polaroid camera, the first helicopter and first color television. Noah Webster, who made dictionaries famous, was from Connecticut. The state insect is the Praying Mantis. Other themes for future songs about Connecticut include the Thames River, agriculture, nutmegs and colonial history.
