Her name at birth on the last day of 1948 was LaDonne Adrian Gainers. Starting in the 1970s she
was known as "The Queen of Disco" with a string of big pop and dance hits. Her first hit "Love to Love You Baby"
ushered in an unrestrained sound that coincided with disco music, which she helped popularize. Some of her
biggest hits included "Bad Girls," "Hot Stuff," "Mac Arthur Park" and "On The Radio." She died of cancer
on May 17, 2012.
