Earth Day started in 1970 to raise awareness about protecting the environment. Much of the pollution we see today is a result of industrialization, particularly from chemical manufacturing, which leads to production of plastics and many nonrenewable products. The key to reducing environmental pollution is sustainability, which is the process of using, reusing and recycling natural products. The concept of sustainability has entered the business world, particularly the construction industry, which is moving rapidly toward eco-friendly building. Solutions to help make the Earth cleaner include reducing demand for plastics, taking your own cloth bags to the grocery store and recycling as much as possible.
