He recently attended a book signing event by Nirvana manager Danny Goldberg, who recently released a book about his experience with the band called Serving the Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain. After working in the music industry John is a Business Intelligence Analyst based in Los Angeles, as he helps businesses analyze data. He has actually been analyzing data his entire career, especially working in promotions, in which data is the fuel for spreading stories about artist reactions and reviews. The music industry has used various data for decades measuring the popularity of artists, albums and songs. Artist careers often begin with airplay at one independent station in a small market then a story builds from there. Many radio programmers wait to "add" songs to their playlists until they see convincing data to warrant airplay.
