Religious Music

Religious music stayed between about a 4 and 7 share throughout the 2000s, according to data from Peter Hart Research and Taylor Research & Consulting Group, as reported on RIAA.com in the RIAA's 2008 Consumer Profile. The genre includes Christian, Gospel, Inspirational and Spiritual Music. In 2000 the genre had nearly a 5 share and by 2008 the it had grown to a 6.5 share. The only year that saw a significant dip for Religious Music was 2007, as 2008 moved closer to the decade its decade high of 6.7 market share in 2001 and 2002. Despite what seems to be a small share, Religious Music was the sixth highest ranked genre in 2008, out of the 13 leading genres.
