by Alex Cosper (12/18/12) Neil Armstrong became the first astronaut to walk on the moon when the Apollo 11 spacecraft landed on the moon July 20, 1969. His message back to Earth was "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed." His most famous quote during this adventure was "one small step for man, one giant step for mankind." Here were the songs on the national charts the "week ending July 26, 1969." It's interesting that the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 was about the future of Earth called "In The Year 2525" by Zager & Evans. The two songs on the chart that week that mentioned the moon were "Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and "Moonflight" by Vik Venus, a novelty record that used soundbites of other songs as responses to interview questions.
