The Beatles had been hitting the British charts since 1962. Their first big hit in America was "I Want To Hold Your Hand," which first hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 the week ending February 1, 1964. The Beatles had other records on the chart as well. It was the first of twenty number one hits in their career.
