1966 - Beatles play their final touring concert in San Francisco in August and then focus on recording
1966 - In August, Paul gets the initial idea for Sgt. Pepper
1966 - Recording sessions for the new album begin November 24 as they use the Mellotron the first time
1966 - Early Sgt. Pepper sessions include: "Penny Lane," "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "When I'm Sixty-Four"
1966 - Beatles begin recording "When I'm Sixty-Four" on December 6
1967 - Sessions for "A Day In The Life" begin January 19 through February 23
1967 - "Good Morning, Good Morning" sessions begin February 8
1967 - On February 13, EMI released the double A-side single "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever"
1967 - Although meant for Sgt. Pepper, "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" do not appear on the album
1967 - Band completes sessions for "Fixing a Hole" February 21
1967 - Beatles complete sessions for "A Day In The Life" February 22
