The state song is "I Love New York" by Steve Karmen. New York is a huge financial, entertainment and sports state as well as one of the world's top tourist attractions. New York's heritage traces back to the Algonquian, Iroqois and Lenape tribes. Dutch settlers arrived in the early 17th century but the land was taken over by the British in 1664. The British changed the name from New Netherland to the Province of New York after the Duke of York James Stewart, who went on to become king of England, Ireland and Scotland. New York was where many battles of the American Revolution were fought, inevitably becoming one of the first 13 states. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France in 1886. The New York Stock Exchange was established in 1792, marking the beginning of Wall Street in the financial district of Manhattan. Other New York themes include Niagara Falls, Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza and Long Island.
