The banner year in the 2000s for the Rap/Hip-Hop genre was 2002 with 13.8 market share, according to data from Peter Hart Research and Taylor Research & Consulting Group, as reported on RIAA.com in the RIAA's 2008 Consumer Profile. The music, fueled by top sellers Eminem, Jay-Z and 50 Cent, stayed among the top 3 most popular genres most of the decade, usually behind Rock, R&B and sometimes Country. Rap/Hip-Hop was the number two genre behind Rock in 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2005. The genre was number 3 with a 10.7 share in 2008 behind Rock and Country.
